ARC celebrates World Health Day by promoting Healthy Eating Active Lifestyles for children

To commemorate this year’s World Health Day (7 April 2014), ARC has organized a number of activities to promote Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyles for children. These include: Official release of animated Sing-Along song “Eat a Rainbow” from ARC’s award-winning storybook The Colourful Companionship of Casey Cabbage Book launch for the 2nd storybook in the HEAL series: The Sneaky Snare of the Syrupy Slurp Slops Awareness sessions for school children “Eat a Rainbow” Sing-Along song by ARC with support from UNICEF This exciting song is from ARC’s international award winning storybook The Colourful Companionship of Casey Cabbage and illustrates the benefits of eating different coloured fruits and vegetables everyday. ARC is pleased to note that the song is a 100% local production, with lyrics, music, vocals and animation by talented Maldivian youth and wishes to express sincere appreciation to everyone involved in making this a reality. The song will be aired on all TV channels from today, and has also been shared with all 222 primary schools throughout the country. Book launch for the 2nd storybook in the HEAL series: The Sneaky Snare of the Syrupy Slurp Slops The lovable HEAL characters are back, and this time Walter Watermelon falls into trouble and leaves his loyal friends to team up with the Slurp Slops. Find out what happens to him at the exciting book launch to be held on Friday 11th April 2014 from 4.30- 6.00pm at the Raalhugandu Helipad Area. The event will include fun and educational games encouraging children to “Re-think their drink” and will also have informative posters and brochures for children and parents to take home. Awareness sessions for School children ARC’s Senior Consultant on Nutrition will conduct interactive sessions for children at Billabong High International School Grade 1-5 and Kalaafaanu School grade 1-3. At the HEAL Campaign information sessions children are encouraged to eat different colored fruits and vegetables everyday, choose water first to quench their thirst, avoid junk food, eat healthy snacks and stay active. The sessions will be continued for other schools in Male’ and other islands throughout the year.
