Date: 28 June 2013

Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC) has worked as a social partner for the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race from 2011-2013, dedicated to the prevention of child abuse. The Road Race is participated by thousands of people from various walks of life, brought together for a worthy cause and in support of the work done by NGOs to combat social issues. ARC notes that this years road race has been a greater success, as it involved a larger number of people working to help make a difference.

ARC praises the efforts of over 70 individual runners and members of various institutions of Maldives who participated in this years road race on behalf of ARC and helped raise awareness and funds for ARCs HOPE Campaign against Child Abuse.Through their efforts, MVR 30,000 was raised for ARCs child protection programmes.

ARC also wishes to thank the Maldivian Association of Distance Runners (MAD Runners), who were represented by professionals from different fields, for being ARC Ambassadors for this years run and for showing that protecting children from abuse is everybodys job. ARC believes that the combined efforts by all individuals and institutions is vital in the fight against child abuse, and that it is the responsibility of all citizens in the society to identify and prevent cases of child abuse.

ARC once again notes with deep appreciation the continued efforts by Dhiraagu to help create a positive impact in the community, particularly by raising awareness and drawing attention to the serious the issue of child abuse in the Maldives.
